Bed bugs are back!
Eliminated around the time I was born, bed bugs have made a comeback. I had heard that some time ago and forgot all about it. I didn't look for them during my recent stay at the Hyatt--reportedly they are appearing in higher end hotels that accommodate foreign travelers.

Ultimately they're harmless--it's just that the idea of a small creature sucking your blood during the night is really creepy.

There is a picture--in my post, the first mention of bed bugs in the paragraph is a link to the article, and they had a picture. The bugs you describe aren't them. :) Bed bugs don't live outside at all, they cohabit with humans mostly. (I never read whether they like other mammals too.)

sorry, that was me before i logged in. Re-reading the article, yes they also use other mammals as steady meals. As I read it again I was thinking maybe flea bombs would work against them, or that they could make something similar.

I suggest really shaking out everything when you pack at a hotel to come home, and keeping an eye out for them. Obviously they're hitching rides from hotels to homes.
