Bush! Crony Jobs.
In other interesting news, Dobson is going to report on his radio show what Rove told him that has reassured him so much about Harriet Miers' nomination.
On the Today show, responding to a question from Matt Lauer regarding the possibility of sexism being a factor in the response to the nomination of Harriet Miers, Laura Bush responded, "It's possible. I think that's possible ... I think people are not looking at her accomplishments."
Which begs the question--what accomplishments? Her corporate attorney job where she saved big corporations money? Her Texas lottery job? Or her job at the White House rubberstamping the Bush administration? If she were a well established constitutional lawyer or scholar, had worked as a judge, or gave any evidence in her life or writings that she has thought about the big contitutional issues of the day, I think the focus would be on her qualifications. In the absence of any substantial ones, we must fall back on speculation about her character, religious background, and relationship with Bush.
I might not like any of the conservative women Bush could have picked to fill this position--but I'd be a lot less offended if it was someone who at least had the demonstrated knowledge and experience to do the job.
