There are lots of different types so perhaps try another one. A lot of people get discouraged because they think they are failing at it. Especially achievement oriented people who are used to success at the things they do. It is natural and normal for the mind to wander. Just observe and pull it back as often as needed. That is the practice and it does get better but no one expects to perfect it right away or in a few months etc.

The last time I tried it, I got discouraged because I was having trouble and just felt like it was pointless. Like, what's the big deal about thinking about things? But this article gives me a different perspective.

Of course, my other issue is not having time to do it.

Yeah, as a mom I found it difficult to do my mantra meditation. I had a certain amount of time that was required per day when I was still a Hare Krishna.
