Kirtanananda Swami aka Bhaktipada is Dead
An evil man has passed. The world is a better place for his absence.

"Swami Bhaktipada, a former leader of the American Hare Krishna movement who built a sprawling golden paradise for his followers in the hills of Appalachia but who later pleaded guilty to federal racketeering charges that included conspiracy to commit the murders-for-hire of two devotees, died on Monday in a hospital near Mumbai, India. He was 74. "

I am thankful that I no longer share a planet with this man and that he can never hurt anyone again. WRT the article, I was there in 1975 and he already had quite a crew of followers practically worshiping him even before his own Guru left the planet. I used to be a next door neighbor of Reid in L.A. and I know the son of the murdered St. Denis. I couldn't hate this man more if I tried. He ruined so many lives, many of them children.

Is it just my perception, or do half the odd religions/cults in the US either start in or gravitate to West Virginia? Maybe it's just because of Falwell....

I don't know what the stats are on that. But it certainly gave him an isolated area with which to control people.

Jerry Falwell was born in and based in Virginia, not West Virginia.
