Descant Silent Night
Through the silent night, the town is sleeping,
The sheep are safe within the fold,
They're free from danger fear and cold,
Silent...silent night
Holy..holy night
...Sleep in peace, si-lent, ho-ly night,
Sleep in peace.

found long lost descant lyrics to silent night, we sang it in grade school for a Christmas program one year, circa 1970

That would be interesting to hear!

I'm trying to imagine the way the descant winds around the melody and chorus....

I don't remember exactly where in the song we started but we finished at the same time as the other singers. I still remember the melody. I should record it some time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcP6ZwZBMF0 This is the tune we sang, there are variations to the lyrics, some have written them in comments.

Oh, cool! I saw your comment yesterday, but didn't get a chance to get on the computer at home to see this; I'll take a look at it tonight when I get home!

Hope your holiday is a happy one, if I don't get a chance to talk to you again between now and then (Thanksgiving, that is-bit early for Christmas/Solstice holiday wishes)!
