How convenient
Palin's daughter Bristol 5 months pregnant. It's interesting how perfectly timed this is to refute the rumors that Palin's latest baby, 4 months old, could be Bristol's. Though it seems to me that if you lied about all of that, a little lie about how far along Bristol really is would be pretty easy to accomplish. Maybe Bristol hated the idea all along of lying and giving up her child to her mom and went out and got pregnant again just to show her. If you are a conservative teenage girl, what better rebellion than a couple of pregnancies? I still say no woman in her right mind would travel so long and so far after her water has broken with a baby who might have heart problems and need care right away. From Texas to Alaska and then from Anchorage to a rural facility? That's foolhardy and at the very least questions her judgment.

Meanwhile Daily Kos has another entry with more evidence of a cover up: BabyGate: Explosive New Details.

By mentioning the rumor in the national press, though, hasn't Palin made it fair game to look into it? I wish someone reputable and with the full resources of the press would look into it and put an end to the controversy once and for all.

ETA: statement by Obama on Bristol's pregnancy:

Obama statement on Palin pregnancy

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama responded in Monroe, Michigan, today about the news that Bristol Palin, daughter of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, is pregnant:

"Let me be a clear as possible: I have said before and I will repeat again, I think people's families are off limits, and people's children are especially off limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor, or her potential performance as a vice president.

"And so I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18, and how a family deals with issues and, you know, teenage children, that shouldn't be the topic of our politics and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that's off limits."
