Through My Eyes Video on Bullying
cindy_dutracindy_dutra on June 19th, 2008 05:57 pm (UTC)
Just in the interest of fair disclosure, regarding the game "Bully" that this video refers to:

The goal of "Bully" is not to bully, but to fight against school bullies. It's a somewhat open-ended game and you *can* bully other children, but there are significant negative in-game consequences to doing so. Most of the controversy about this game came during the months before it was released, and once reviewers were actually able to play it, the objections dried up considerably.

Some of the other controversy had to do with the protagonist, Jimmy, being kissed by other boys as a reward for helping them. These are presented as the same positive rewards as boy-girl kisses. For as much bad press as Bully has taken over its title, I'd like to see it get a little positive recognition for being perhaps the only video game EVER to address male bisexuality, and do so in a favorable light.

That's cool, thanks for the inside info. :) I'd never have known otherwise.

I can imagine the boy-on-boy kisses raising an uproar, though it shouldn't. (sigh)
