amusing test about humor
the Wit
(65% dark, 26% spontaneous, 22% vulgar)
your humor style:
CLEAN | COMPLEX | DARK

You like things edgy, subtle, and smart. I guess that means you're probably an intellectual, but don't take that to mean you're pretentious. You realize 'dumb' can be witty--after all isn't that the Simpsons' philosophy?--but rudeness for its own sake, 'gross-out' humor and most other things found in a fraternity leave you totally flat.

I guess you just have a more cerebral approach than most. You have the perfect mindset for a joke writer or staff writer. Your sense of humor takes the most effort to appreciate, but it's also the best, in my opinion.

Also, you probably loved the Office. If you don't know what I'm
talking about, check it out here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/theoffice/.

PEOPLE LIKE YOU: Jon Stewart - Woody Allen - Ricky Gervais

I am amused about the vulgar percentage because frankly, the vulgar options in this test rather disturbed me and I simply tried to choose the least vulgar option--it's so high school. I would have loved a "none of the above" option at times.

That's not to say I can't tolerate that in my humor--but the vulgarity itself can't be the whole point.

My favorite comedians are Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, Margaret Cho, Whoopi Goldberg, Roseanne, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, and Bill Cosby (off the top of my head, I am sure there's more) and I prefer standup to just about any other form. Overboard with Goldie Hawn is one of my favorite comedy movies because of the emphasis on class differences--something that often gets overlooked in the rush to explore other forms of prejudice. I also die laughing at Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum mysteries. I guess I tolerate literary slapstick better than on film, and I love the one liners and self deprecating humor.

I really think we undervalue comedy in our culture and after 9/11 when the late night talk show hosts were downplaying what they do I wanted to shake them and say, "No, we NEED you right now, don't you understand how imporant your contribution to the world is?" Comedians keep us going through dark times. Hug a comedian today.
