Aunt Diane
daveseeker's Aunt Diane passed away. We're not quite sure when--we do know that people were trying to contact her all day and finally the family went to check on her and found her dead, we think of a heart attack or stroke (given the family history). They're doing an autopsy. She was 64.

Aunt Diane was a bit of a character, the kind of person that spices up family gatherings with her high spirits and colorful accessories. She had a wide circle of friends and worked at the Capitola Mall for many years. She had a close gay male friend of many years and was naturally "gay positive" and non-judgmental. She made me feel very welcome in the family exactly as I am. We often talked of spiritual matters when we were together, in spite of our differing belief-systems.

In the past five years Aunt Diane had struggled to come to terms with the loss of her mother Olga (also a very special lady) and had settled into her own home. She had taken care of Olga for the last years of her life while much of her own life was put on hold. I am sad that she didn't get to enjoy more of her new home and her retirement but I know that she is reunited tonight with many loved ones and is undoubtedly at peace. She lived the kind of good life filled with concern for others that can only mean that she is surrounded by love now.

With your feet I walk
I walk with your limbs
I carry forth your body
For me your mind thinks
Your voice speaks for me
Beauty is before me
Beauty is behind me
Above and below me hovers the beautiful
I am surrounded by it
I am immersed in it
In my youth I am aware of it
And in my old age I shall walk quietly
The beautiful trail.
