Petition to Stop FDA From Taking Away Our Pain Meds

Action Alert from The American Pain Foundation: "The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is considering advice from its Advisory Committee that would eliminate all prescription acetaminophen combination medications (like Vicodin, Percocet). In addition, they are recommending taking the 500 mg (extra strength) dose of acetaminophen (the medicine in Tylenol) off store shelves and make it available only by prescription. These changes could negatively affect people suffering from pain who rely on these medicines every day."

Please sign our petition urging the FDA to use education rather than eliminating these vital options.

We can all agree that acetaminophen needs to be used with care, given that overdoses or combining with alcohol can lead to severe liver damage. Other than putting information on the label we believe a campaign of public service announcements and education by doctors who prescribe combination medicines could adequately solve the problem.

I, personally, rely on Vicodin for my migraines since I am not allowed to take constrictive medications like Imitrex. I don't know what I would do if that were taken off the market entirely.
