Don't Help This Bigot Sell His New Series Rights
Yet another reason not to see Ender's Game in theater: "And Orson is apparently writing something that’s more of a direct follow called ["Fleet School"]. Obviously, from the studio’s point of view, they’d almost certainly want to move the characters from this film into the next journey. So it may be that “Speaker for the Dead” is not the sequel now." Ender's Game director Gavin Hood.

Bigger sales helps Card sell yet another series' worth of movie rights so he clearly does profit if Ender's Game does well at the box office. (I've seen lots of people arguing that he was already paid so it doesn't really matter.)

For the movie, he was paid a flat consultant's fee and the production team is donating to LGBT causes.

My concern is that if it does really well, it just leads them to do more business with him as he writes these new books that are intended to be sequels.

He's planning sequels?

The idea is that he's writing new books that would continue the same characters in the movie because the original sequels aren't the best for movie sequels and are set in different times with new characters. They're also depressing. If the current movie does really well, it's likely they'd option these new books he's working on for future movies.
