Thanks for posting this. My mother has been having these visual symptoms (a pulsating light) for weeks that the 3-4 doctors she's seen seem to think is a migraine, but she's been going crazy over it.

I've only had visual disturbances once but I routinely have problems thinking of words in the early phase of a migraine. My husband sometimes has this symptom too. I remember when all they mentioned were visual aura so I'm glad other symptoms are now mentioned. I have a friend who experiences synesthesia.

I was wondering the other day how your mom is doing. I hope this symptom passes soon. It's really unnerving.

I've been fortunate enough that I've never had any sort of a headache that ibuprofen couldn't take care of (or IB and pseudoephedrine, in the case of sinus headaches), but I do get migraines.

They start out as a little flicker in my field of vision, sort of like a prism effect. The effect gets bigger and spreads into a circle or ring. As soon as I see that little flicker, I go take something for it, because if it hits the edge of my peripheral vision, that's when the pain starts.

The one and only time I didn't take anything, I threw up within the hour. Course, that got rid of the headache, but NOT the way I want to do that again!

Oh, and hi! Long time no hear from, and hope you're doing well!

I'm glad that your migraines have been responding to ibuprofen. I used to use that but it really hurts my stomach.

Hi *waves* I hope things are going well for you too. :)

i'm very happy to say i've not had one migraine since my hysterectomy.

this may change on thursday - thomas has a nephrology appointment here at UK, and you know how that goes (esp if grandma comes along).
