Patrick Steward Speaks Out About Domestic Violence in His Family
-Trigger warning-

Patric Stewart: The Legacy of Domestic Violence

Thank you, Mr. Stewart, for telling so vividly the child's view of domestic violence. That couldn't have been an easy thing for you to do.

Applause and kudos to him.

I'd send this to my mother, but she probably wouldn't read it even though Patrick Stewart is her favourite actor.

I survived ten years of abuse only to require three years of counselling, therapy and medication. That's three years of my adult life wasted recovering from somehting that could have been avoided. Even now I don't like to talk about it.

{{{hugs}}}

Yes abuse wastes so much time and potential and causes so much suffering, lasting far longer than anyone guesses.

My therapist also pointed out that it took a toll on my health.

There's a great video of him talking on this issue at Amnesty International's UK Human Rights Action Centre. It's a bit painful to watch as he is obviously finding it difficult to talk about.
