Tracking down a song
I've been watching old episodes of Strong Medicine, and there was an episode "Side Effects" that had a song in the background at the end that I fell in love with. Only problem--they didn't list the song or artist in the credits. I had to rent it and listen over and over to recover enough lyrics to do a search. (The song was in the background of dialog for the most part.)

It turned out to be Nicola Hitchcock's ethereal voice singing for Mandalay, and the song title was Insensible.

I pulled a loose thread
I gathered you in
Discovered I could
A pivot for your sun

You invited me in
As if it's nothing
We tread on old ground
As if it's nothing now

It's like I hardly see the sky some days
It's like you hardly said a word
It's like I hardly see the sky somedays
And i'd do better if I turned my head
Knowing you did

I wouldn't be here
If you could have said no
I wouldn't have come here
If ever I had known

It's like I hardly see the sky somedays
It's like you hardly said a word
It's like I hardly see the sky somedays
And I'd do better if I turned my head
Knowing you did

Knowing you called
Knowing you held her
Knowing you kissed
Knowing you did all this

It's like I hardly see the sky some days
It's like you hardly said a word
It's like I hardly see the sky somedays
And I'd do better if I turned my head
Knowing you did.

It has a haunting melody that was stuck in my head for days after I heard it. I'm glad I found it.

I do wonder what Nicola would sound like if she dropped the ethereal effect she uses and bust out with full force vocals.

Oh yeah! A few people had told me they'd come before I left but I haven't heard anything by email. I figure I'll be ready and if a few or a bunch come it'll be fun either way. I'll start us off with one pack of good beer and people can bring more if they want. I'll have something to snack on too. So feel free to spread the word: it's on! And hey, did anyone ever track down my missing goodbye card?

Thank you SO much!
I heard the song on the album "She: A Female Trip-Hop Experience"... and you're so right - very haunting. I couldn't get all the lyrics and was searching on the net and I'm so glad you got them. Amazing song. Thanks for putting the time and effort into listening and getting the lyrics :)
